The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Portland fans at Waterfront Park.

The Portland Beavers scored a 4-3 win versus the Rubber City Rhinos at Waterfront Park. Portland catcher Ralph Blair nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Portland now sits at 41-55, while Rubber City falls to 53-41.

Blair had one of his biggest at-bats in the bottom of the seventh. Facing Akinori Samurakami, the Portland slugger hit a 2-run home run. Suddenly, what had been a 3-2 Portland deficit turned into a 4-3 lead. For Blair, it was his 13th home run of the season.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Rubber City skipper Larry Johnson.
