Takejiro Nakamura did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the San Francisco Earthquakes from losing, 5-4, to the Cabo San Lucas Toreros at Field de Los Layendas. Nakamura was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. The 5th-place Toreros now have a win-loss record of 42-53.

In the bottom of the 7th, designated hitter Ashis Mudigonda gave Cabo San Lucas the lead when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Toreros had been trailing 4-2, but the two-out double off San Francisco pitcher Na'il bin Bashshar changed that -- and Cabo San Lucas went on to win.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Mudigonda said.
