Armada Stumble, Lose to Grays
|
The Georgia Grays defeated the Quebec Armada, 8-4, in Thurman Munson League action at The Death Star. Abalendu Manglorkar received player of the game honors. The 14-year veteran was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Ánibal Altichioro got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Armada to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 4. Orlando Días recorded his 1st save for Georgia.
Trailing 1-0, Georgia had a change of fortune in the bottom of the third inning. That's when Armando Moreno sent a full count fastball into the stands for a 3-run home run. The longball put the Grays on top, 3-1.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Moreno said. "We did a good job of that today."
Georgia improves to 6-5 as they look to defend their championship.
