Victory Over Earthquakes Takes Maple to 7-3
|
The Maple Marauders grabbed a 6-2 win over the San Francisco Earthquakes at Legends Park. Maple catcher Motonobu Yamasaki went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Umarah Abdul-Quddus earned the win to go to 1-1. He allowed 2 earned runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. The Marauders keep rolling, raising their record to 7-3.
An important at-bat for Maple came with one out in the bottom of the fourth. With a runner on 1st, Yamasaki hit a 2-run home run, which contributed to the Marauders win.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Maple manager Jesús Alfaro.
