Bombers Lay Egg, Lose 13-2 to Vancouver
|
The Vancouver Pioneers had no problem beating the South Carolina Bombers, 13-2, at The Royal Court at Jersey Yards. Ron Verity led the way. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Vancouver. Kenko Samurakami was the winner. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. With the victory, the Pioneers record now stands at 52-39.
Verity had a key at-bat for Vancouver early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and gave Vancouver an early 2-0 lead.
"They took us to the woodshed," said South Carolina manager Randy Huggett.
