Brisbane Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs got a strong 5 innings from right-hander Jeff Stephens today but failed to take Game 7 of the Single A World Series from the Brisbane Bush Wackers. Stephens held the Bush Wackers to 2 earned runs on 5 strong innings but Brisbane took the game by a score of 2-1 and now lead the best-of-7 series, 4-3.
It could have been a different outcome for Brisbane, had it not been for Matt Rank, the 20-year old center fielder . Rank contributed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put Brisbane up, 2-0.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Brisbane manager Pete Barrett.
