Barrón Handcuffs River Chiefs, Bush Wackers Seize 1-0 Advantage in R2

Brisbane Bush Wackers manager Pete Barrett knew it was a gamble to give the start to a rookie. It was a good gamble to take.
Pitching in front of a hostile crowd, 21-year-old left-hander Lúcio Barrón silenced the host Chippewa River Chiefs at The Reservation today. The Bush Wackers shut out the River Chiefs by a final score of 2-0, to give the Bush Wackers a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Single A World Series.
Barrón, who leaned on his slider, allowed no runs on just 1 hit over 7 innings for the Bush Wackers. For the most part, Chippewa hitters were simply overmatched.
"You never want to start a series with a loss, but I saw a lot of good things today," River Chiefs manager Bruce Leah said. "I'm not worrying. Yet."
The next game is set to be played on Tuesday, October 19th, 2032 at The Reservation. The scheduled starters for the game are Bobby Savoy for the Bush Wackers and Troy Lamb for the River Chiefs.
