Raucous The drakkar Crowd Propels Vikings to 4-3 Victory; Series Tied at 2
|
In a crucial game, the Victoria Vikings put on their best show, beating the Chippewa River Chiefs by a final score of 4-3 today. Alex Bahena earned player of the game honors, as he went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Victoria and Chippewa are now tied at 2 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.
The Vikings used some clutch hitting to beat the River Chiefs, a good example being the at-bat of Reggie Volkmann in the bottom of the eighth. With two down, Volkmann gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he hit a run-scoring single.
Chippewa manager Bruce Leah said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Game 5 is scheduled for Thursday, October 14th, 2032 at The drakkar. Slated to start are Don Wheeler for Chippewa and Kevin Murphy for Victoria.
