The Carson City Mustang started the Double A League Championship in style today, winning on the road against the Rock River Rats at The Rat Hole by a score of 4-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Mustang right-hander Iemitsu Shiroi was named player of the game after he threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when designated hitter Hitoshi Shibata hit a run-scoring single. The Mustang went on to win.

"Credit where credit is due," said Shiroi, "this was a team win."

Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday, October 10th, 2032 at The Rat Hole. Slated to start are Pedro Robles for the Mustang and Gonzalo Ramírez for the Rats.
