Twice as Nice: Fairfield Extends Lead to 2-0 With Walk-off win
|
The Fairfield Flash took a 2-0 lead in the Triple A League Championship on a walk-off at Durham Bulls Athletic Park today. Rookie catcher Ernie Horswill, 22, earned player of the game honors for the Flash, after he went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks.
In the bottom of the ninth, with no one out and the game tied, 4-4, first baseman Josh Bowmer won it for Fairfield. With the bases loaded, Bowmer hit a 2-0 fastball from Robby Guzman for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 5-4 win.
"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Bowmer said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."
Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 12th, 2032 at LaGrave Field. Slated to start are Camilo Pascual for the Flash and Austin Meyers for the Cats.
