Kim, Fairfield Start Triple A League Championship Strong with Home Win
|
The Fairfield Flash started the Triple A League Championship in style today, downing the visiting Fort Worth Cats at Durham Bulls Athletic Park by a score of 6-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Flash right-hander Yeong-suk Kim was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball.
The Flash took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Nathan Sewell hit a 2-run home run off Fort Worth pitcher Yasuhiko Ito, putting Fairfield in front, 5-1. For the game, Sewell went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Every team in baseball loses," Cats manager Lowell Wise said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
The next game is scheduled for Sunday, October 10th, 2032 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Al Bates for Fort Worth and Jesús Díaz for Fairfield.
