Flash, Coal Miners Play 11 to Settle Game 3, Fairfield Now Leads Series 2-1
|
When the games really matter, the Fairfield Flash put on their best show, beating the Antioch Coal Miners by a final score of 8-5 today. Gabriel Fajardo earned player of the game honors, as he came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters . Fairfield now leads Antioch 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
Fairfield won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With no outs and Rick Childress on the mound for Antioch, shortstop Yoshitake Morita hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Flash fans to their feet.
"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Fairfield manager Gary Altman told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Triple A World Series, it's only going to get harder."
Game 4 is set to be played on Friday, October 22nd, 2032 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Slated to start are Matsuyo Koda for the Coal Miners and Frank Hillier for the Flash.
