Patriots Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Round 3
|
The Francis Lewis Patriots faced a challenging opponent in Jefferson Indians right-hander Scott Corber, but did just enough to squeak out a 3-2 win in Game 4 of the Little League World Series today. Francis Lewis now leads 4-0 in the best-of-7 series. The Patriots won despite the Indians getting an excellent start from starter Corber, who allowed 2 earned runs at scattered 4 hits over 6.2 innings.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Tim Croix's at-bat in the top of the ninth was vitally important. With one out, the Francis Lewis right fielder hit a run-scoring single, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"We aren't quitting," Jefferson manager Dan Miller said. "Yeah, the odds are definitely in their favor, but they've got to earn it."
