When the games really matter, the Francis Lewis Patriots put on their best show, beating the Topeka West Chargers by a final score of 8-0 today. Bill Hanson earned player of the game honors, as he was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Francis Lewis now leads Topeka West 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.

The Patriots took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Topeka West hurler Trey Puglisi with one out, Hanson hit a 3-run home run.

"Things broke our way today and that's great," Patriots manager Justin Easton said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."

Game 2 is set to be played on Monday, May 24th, 2032 at Ottawa HS Grounds. Slated to start are Ryan Nichols for the Chargers and Ray Cummings for the Patriots.
