Indiana State Breaks Through for First Win in NCAA College World Series; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Indiana State Sycamores nearly wasted a strong game from starter A.J. Porter, but were saved by some timely hitting in a 9th inning walk-off win over the Fresno State Bulldogs today.
Porter was named player of the game in the 3-2 win at Pit Vipers Ballpark, after he threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. The win allowed Indiana State to cut the Fresno State lead in the best-of-7 series to 1-2.
Gary Skinner was the walk-off hero for Indiana State. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Sycamores shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Skinner.
Game 4 is set to be played on Tuesday, May 25th, 2032 at Pit Vipers Ballpark. Slated to start are Matt Loomis for the Bulldogs and Dave Michlin for the Sycamores.
