True, Fresno State Start NCAA College World Series Strong with Home Win
|
The Fresno State Bulldogs started the NCAA College World Series in style today, downing the visiting Indiana State Sycamores at Brooks College Grounds by a score of 7-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Bulldogs left-hander Mike True was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball.
True was effective for Fresno State, seldom allowing the Sycamores to square up a pitch. The left-hander tossed 80 pitches over 7.1 innings. He limited Indiana State to just 1 run on 3 hits.
"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," True said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."
Game 2 is set to be played on Saturday, May 22nd, 2032 at Brooks College Grounds. The scheduled starters for the game are Dave Michlin for the Sycamores and Danny Jensen for the Bulldogs.
