In a low-scoring game between Eureka and Quebec, pitcher Jorge Salazar was excellent. The Eureka left-hander was named the player of the game in Eureka's 2-1 win. Salazar, the winner, moves to 5-8. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Ashoka Pancholi earned the save, his 24th, for the Hornets.
Runs were hard to come by in this one. Mike McCaw's at-bat with no one out in the top of the eighth, therefore, was critical. The Eureka right fielder hit a solo home run, to put his team on top, 2-1.
"It's a mindset," said Salazar. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
Eureka now owns a record of 50-39.
