Mustangs Fall Short, 4-3, at Eureka
|
Eureka withstood an impressive performance by Mile High shortstop Héctor Cabrera to defeat the Mustangs, 4-3, at The Nest. Cabrera was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times. Tom Wilson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-5. Rintaro Shinoda was tagged with the loss. The Hornets are now 49-38, while the Mustangs fall to 44-41.
The Hornets used some clutch hitting to beat the Mustangs, a good example being the at-bat of José Zavala in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, Zavala gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Feels good to get the job done," Zavala said after the game.
