Clarence Byrd never let the Islanders get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Black Knights to a 4-1 win. Byrd, the winner, moves to 7-5. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Today's win puts Brooklyn at 48-39, while Hawaii falls to 52-34.

Bradley Wolfe delivered a big hit for the Black Knights. The veteran first baseman belted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. The longball put Brooklyn on top, 4-1. Overall, Wolfe went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"Clarence was Clarence," said Black Knights manager Diego Aguirre. "We know what we'll get whenever he takes the mound."
