Islanders Stay Hot With 5-2 Win
|
The Hawaii Islanders got a stellar performance from pitcher António Méndez, who handcuffed the Brooklyn offense en route to a 5-2 win at Blue Ivy Stadium. Picking up the save was Hidetada Abe, his 2nd. The second-place Islanders have won 11 straight.
In the top of the 7th, the Islanders grabbed the lead on a two-out home run by Jim Burry. Hawaii at the time was trailing 1-0, but Burry's 3-run home run off Tomás Bravo put his team in front.
"We're playing like gangbusters right now," said Méndez.
