Canby beat Topeka West at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS, eking out a 9-8 win. The win was due in large part to right fielder Nick Elliott, who earned player of the game honors. Andy Fitzpatrick notched his 15th save in 15 chances. The Lancers are now 35-31, while the Chargers fall to 37-29.

Elliott had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count cutter from Joel Alread, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the Lancers a 9-8 lead. It was the 4th hit of the year for Elliott.

"What a game," said Elliott. "We needed every last run."
