Francis Lewis Patriots starter Aaron Coltrin was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Lerna Lions, 5-4. Francis Lewis reliever Tommy Burhoe was the winner. His record is now 1-3. The losing pitcher was Dusty Bynum. Francis Lewis improves to 40-25 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.

Rene Hernandez dealt the Lions a crippling blow in the bottom of the tenth. With the game tied and the bases empty, he hit a walk-off solo home run. The longball gave Francis Lewis the lead, 5-4. Lerna pitcher Dusty Bynum could only shake his head in disbelief.

"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Hernandez. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
