Jaguars Top Indians to Even Record
|
The Jacksonville State Jaguars beat the Jefferson Indians, 5-3, at Ballpark of Monterrey HS. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Edmond Visser, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-2 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Mark Sparling, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 11 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 2-6. Paul Robinson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 5 save opportunities.
Making an impact for Jacksonville State was catcher Malachi Pugh. He drilled a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, Pugh was 2-3 with 2 singles.
"This was a good win," said Visser.
The Jaguars are now 32-32, while the Indians fall to 33-31.
