Lewman Excels in George Washington Win
Scott Lewman was the difference-maker for the George Washington Patriots in what turned into a shootout with the Tioga Central Tigers. Lewman earned the player of the game award after going 2-for-3 in the 19-12 Patriots win. Matt Phillips got the win, improving to 3-4. He worked 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Jason Flesher, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.

When the Patriots needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Lewman who delivered. Facing Tioga Central pitcher Chris Warren the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded, Lewman hit his 10th home run of the year. It made the score 19-12.

Tioga Central manager Gabriel McKinnes said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score in double digits, you expect to win the game."

The slumping Tigers have dropped 6 in a row.
