McIlwain Helps Cardinals Beat Tigers
|
The Montreal Cardinals easily defeated the Tenafly Tigers, 12-4, at Ballpark of León HS, with shortstop Jared McIlwain a main contributor to the win. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 4 times and drove in 4 for Montreal. The Cardinals are now 32-27, while the Tigers fall to 28-31.
When the Cardinals needed a boost, it was the light-hitting McIlwain who delivered. Facing Tenafly pitcher Dale Perry the top of the third with runners on 1st and 2nd, McIlwain hit his 4th home run of the year. It made the score 5-1.
In comments to the Montreal Chronicle, McIlwain admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
