The Montreal Cardinals picked up a win at Ottawa HS Grounds, knocking off the Francis Lewis Patriots, 11-4. Starting pitcher Zaire Small, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Small got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 8 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Small allowed 2 earned runs. The second-place Cardinals have won 5 in a row.

Jared McIlwain came through for Montreal when he hit a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded, he hit a first pitch curveball to right field, staking his team to a 3-2 lead.
