Jeremy Schrimp pitched well, but his team, the Santa Clara Vampires, still dropped a 3-2 decision to the Francis Lewis Patriots at Ottawa HS Grounds. Sam Berg got the win, improving to 6-2. He held the Vampires to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Francis Lewis.
The Vampires had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Patriots going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old left fielder Sam Cadieux came to the plate. Cadieux hit a run-scoring single on a 1-2 slider from Santa Clara hurler Jeremy Schrimp. It was Cadieux's 59th hit of the year.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Patriots manager Justin Easton, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
