Theriot Stars for Patriots in 13-6 Win
|
The Francis Lewis Patriots defeated the Santa Clara Vampires, 13-6, at Ottawa HS Grounds. Francis Lewis third baseman Jimmy Theriot was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. Francis Lewis starter Andy Gabbard was credited with the win after throwing 126 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. Francis Lewis is now 32-20, 5½ games up in the Pete Rose League Alex Rodriguez Division.
When the Patriots needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Theriot who delivered. Facing Santa Clara pitcher Jose Lopez the bottom of the fourth with runners on 1st and 2nd, Theriot hit his 12th home run of the year. It made the score 7-4.
"This is a very good team," said Theriot. "We have the chance to do something special."
