Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Lions
|
The Lerna Lions gave their fans something to talk about with a thrilling, walk-off win.
Billings West wasted a solid 8-inning effort from starting pitcher Chris Ryan, losing to Lerna, 2-1, at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS. The winner was Jonathan Lalonde in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Mike Lund took the loss.
Jim Unknown had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the tenth. The Lerna center fielder came through with a run-scoring double to put Lerna in front, 2-1.
During his postgame press conference, Lions manager Nick Riddick told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
Lerna is now 24-27.
