Mustangs Turn Back Central Tech, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the San Marin Mustangs and the Central Tech Blues, pitcher John Southern was the difference between victory and defeat. The San Marin right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 Mustangs win. Jake Reynolds was called on to finish, recording his 9th save. The Mustangs saw their win-loss record go to 21-30. At the same time, the Blues fell to 17-34.
When the Mustangs needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Southern who delivered. Facing Central Tech pitcher Ryan Daniels the bottom of the first with a runner on 1st, Southern hit his 7th home run of the year. It made the score 2-0.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Southern.
