Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Chargers
Topeka West beat Lerna at Breakers Ballpark, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to first baseman Jim Boyle, who earned player of the game honors. Topeka West reliever Don Philpott was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Dusty Bynum took the loss for Lerna. Jabari Hailey earned the save for Topeka West, his 2nd of the year.

Topeka West took the lead in the bottom of the eighth when Boyle hit a run-scoring single. His 36th hit of the season made the score 5-4, Topeka West.

Boyle said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."

Lerna's current losing streak is now 4 games.
