Pioneers Win at Cabo San Lucas, 3-1
|
Vancouver got a strong outing from Qi-chang Ec as the Pioneers defeated the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 3-1, at Field de Los Layendas. Ec, now 6-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. The Pioneers bumped their record to 47-36 with this latest triumph.
With Vancouver trailing 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, the Pioneers struck gold when third baseman Ron Verity turned a 2-2 fastball from Toreros hurler Joey Steamer into his 8th home run of the season. The hit scored 2 and put Vancouver up, 2-1.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Vancouver manager Emmett Brown.
