Tigers Take Down Titans, 9-3
|
Tioga Central starter Ted Mengel pitched effectively against the Carl Albert Titans at Alleycats Ballpark. The left-hander led his team to a 9-3 win. Mengel, now 4-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 14, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. Tioga Central now sits in 5th place in the Pete Rose League Roger Clemens Division at 22-24.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Wade Newman contributed a big hit for the Tigers. With Tioga Central leading 5-0, he hammered a grand slam home run.
In comments to the Tioga Central Citizen, Mengel insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
