League Takes Action, Bermúdez Suspended
Wednesday, May 17th, 2028
The agitation was hot and heavy at Toughkenamon College Fields yesterday. After a called third strike Owls first baseman Ánibal Bermúdez protested the call in no uncertain terms. While he and the home plate umpire were jawing face-to-face, a few bumps took place and Bermúdez was ejected from the game.
"It was verbal, nothing more," according to Bermúdez. However, the league frowned on what transpired and suspended him for 4 games.
"The league will never tolerate a player touching an umpire in anger," the commissioner said in the suspension notification.
In his stats this season, Bermúdez has posted a batting average of .206 with 26 hits in 126 at-bats, 4 home runs and 12 RBIs. He has also scored 15 runs, walked 23 times and compiled a .342 OBP.
