5-Hit Barrage by Martínez Sunday, April 30th, 2028 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. Carlos Martínez is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the LSU Tigers at Tribe Ballpark today.The monster effort from the 19-year-old first baseman helped the Washington State Cougars take the win, 19-10. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Tigers manager Harry Morris. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." Carlos Martínez singled in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Will Simmons in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
