Tony Whetzel Lost for Season

The season is ending on a bad note for Tony Whetzel, reliever for the Alabama Crimson Tide. It was announced today that he will miss the rest of the season because of injury. Whetzel was hurt against the Oklahoma State Cowboys while throwing a pitch. He suffered a ruptured finger tendon and will be out for at least 4 months.
To date in the season, Whetzel is 1-2 with no relief appearances and no saves. He has held opposing batters to a .302 average, pitched 24 innings, struck out 29 and walked 12 while recording a 7.88 ERA.
