5-for-8 Day for Oliver Sunday, May 2nd, 2027 It was a big day for Jim Oliver of the North Carolina Tar Heels. He led his club to a 19-18 victory over the Indiana State Sycamores today at Pit Vipers Ballpark. The 21-year-old catcher smoked Sycamores pitching for 5 hits in 8 at-bats. Jim Oliver singled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Cipriano Rodríguez in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, grounded out in the 7th, flied out in the 9th, singled in the 11th, hit a two-run single in the 12th and hit an RBI single in the 13th. This year Oliver is hitting .276, produced 16 RBIs and 4 home runs, scored 14 times and gotten on base at a .371 rate. |
