Kessler Batters North Carolina Big Time
Tuesday, April 27th, 2027
It seemed that South Illinois right fielder Steve Kessler could do no wrong today, but it still didn't come out right. The Salukis still dropped the game to the Tar Heels by the score of 15-4. He did all he could, rapping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but in the end, North Carolina prevailed in the ballgame at Bruisers Ballpark. "I felt real good today, but my best just wasn't enough. We didn't play well enough to win. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play. The balls just fell in for base hits. Some days they do that," Kessler explained in the postgame press interview. Steve Kessler hit a solo-shot off Vaughn Byerly in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
So far this season Kessler has gotten 28 hits in 102 at-bats for a .275 batting average with 4 home runs. His stats include 15 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has played in 25 games.
