Great Stroke: Matsubara Gets 5 Hits
Monday, July 31st, 2028
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Nori Matsubara is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Austin Hipsters at Penlee Park today. The monster effort from the 21-year-old center fielder helped the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws take the win, 4-2.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Hipsters manager Chance Jackson. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Nori Matsubara singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Matsubara is swinging the bat at a .292 rate with 102 hits in 349 at-bats. To date he has hit 5 home runs, scored 62 runs and driven in 27.
