Great Stroke: Caro Gets 5 Hits
Saturday, June 3rd, 2028
It was a downpour of hits for Rafael Caro at Prefontaine Park today.
The Nichols Gnats first baseman tore into Eugene for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace the Gnats to a rain-delayed 7-3 victory. Eugene manager Tom Becker bemoaned his pitching, speculating his club got flustered by Caro's big day.
"He was beating us and we stopped locating well," he said. "That makes you get behind in the count and you can't do that when a guy is hot like Caro was today. Not to take anything away from him, but bad location was the story of the ballgame."
Rafael Caro hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Looking at his stats this year, Caro has compiled a .308 batting average, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 35 runs. He has played in 38 games and scored 16 runs.
