Kawano FFL Selection for 2028 Silver Slugger Award
Sunday, October 29th, 2028
At the age of 25, Kiyoemon Kawano of the Rock River Rats could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2028 was good enough to win the shortstop the Ford Frick League Silver Slugger Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .331 batting average this year, as well as a .468 on-base percentage. He played 143 games and racked up 157 hits, 26 doubles, 1 triple, 15 home runs, 101 RBIs and 110 runs scored.
Jesús González of the Rock River Rats finished second in voting, while Herman Wolf of the Rock River Rats finished third.
