Wallace Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Spartans Wednesday, July 19th, 2028 It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game. It happened at UFO Field today asStan Wallace of the Phoenix Lights unloaded three times against the Sandy Springs Spartans. He got his name in the league record book, but his team didn't get the win. The Spartans bumped off the Lights by a score of 9-8. "We were lucky to win today," said the Sandy Springs skipper. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis." Wallace spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings. "I'm happy to hit three homers and get my name in the record books, but a little sad because we lost." Remarking on his big ballgame, he said, "I guess you could say I was a good guesser today, especially on the last one. I was ahead in the count, so I got set for a certain pitch, and got it ... all of it." For the game the Phoenix catcher had 4 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 3. Stan Wallace doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jake Rhodes in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Brian Daniels in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Nakamaro Kichida in the 6th and walked in the 8th. Presently Wallace is batting .326 with 9 home runs and 27 RBIs. He has played in 41 games and scored 25 times. |
