Friday, May 5th, 2028
DeKalb Cornhuskers right fielder Zheng-ze Joe put on a dazzling display of power today at The Coliseum against the Sandy Springs Spartans. In the 8-6 Cornhuskers victory Joe penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Sandy Springs manager Duncan Kelly said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 21-year-old had 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Joe said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Zheng-ze Joe hit a two-run home run off Min Qi in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Min Qi in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Harmon Anstey in the 9th.
Posting a .243 batting average to date, Joe has 5 home runs and 6 RBIs.
