Jail Birds Snap Aston's Streak at 20 Saturday, April 22nd, 2028 Pacifica center fielder Marty Aston came into today's game against the Newark Jail Birds on a hot streak. When it was over, the Jail Birds did their job very well. They beat the Pacifica Shamrocks 3-0 and cooled him off at the same time. Newark stopped Aston without a hit and his 20-game hitting streak came to an end. The 23-year-old Aston only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short." His manager commented, "What Marty did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." This season Aston is batting .361 with 13 RBIs, 17 runs scored and 2 home runs. |
