Anthony Lawrence out 4 Months With Injury Friday, September 3rd, 2027 Watching Anthony Lawrence getting helped off the field today at Mystic Lake Stadium, fans of the Champaign Chiefs feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the reliever will miss 4 months with a ruptured finger tendon. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. Lawrence suffered the injury throwing a pitch in the game against the Sabercats. To date in the season, Lawrence is 6-3 with 48 relief appearances and 6 saves. He has held opposing batters to a .235 average, pitched 60 innings, struck out 82 and walked 37 while recording a 2.70 ERA. |
