Fort Worth's Verney Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Monday, April 26th, 2027
After the Fort Worth 12-8 loss to Silver Lake and his 5-hit day right fielder Graham Verney told reporters, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school, or college ball. Two hits in a game is very good, three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special. It will get you in the record books, but you won't necessarily win the ballgame." The 26-year-old player got into the record book today with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Silver Lake Baristas. The skipper of the Cats spoke glowingly of Verney, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Graham did that to perfection today. I just wish some more of our players swung the bat as good as him. We might have won the game." Graham Verney singled in the 1st,
hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Koi-sho An in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

For the year Verney has hit at a .419 clip with 14 RBIs, 1 home run and 6 runs scored.
