Mayne Sizzles -- Smokes Coal Miners for 5 Hits Wednesday, April 14th, 2027 On top of the Pasadena hit parade today was Dennis Mayne. He went to the plate 5 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Bumblebees to a 10-5 victory over the Antioch Coal Miners. The sweet swinging center fielder told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Coal Miners wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Dennis Mayne singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Carlos Estrada in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This year Mayne is batting .368 with 1 home run and 6 RBIs. In 10 games he has scored 6 times. |
