Bang-up Game: Fitzgerald Slams 3 Homers Sunday, September 10th, 2028 South Carolina Bombers third baseman Michael Fitzgerald sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a litte. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Dallas Texans, Fitzgerald told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Fitzgerald pushed the Bombers past the Texans, 12-0. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Fitzgerald told reporters after the game. Michael Fitzgerald hit a solo-shot off Felipe Rodríguez in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Felipe Rodríguez in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Ramiro Ortega in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. For the season Fitzgerald has hit .335 with 30 home runs and 85 RBIs. He has played in 108 games and scored 82 times. |
