Friday, August 11th, 2028
Dallas Texans first baseman Jeff Smith sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a litte.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Seattle Sasquatch, Smith told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Smith pushed the Texans past the Sasquatch, 5-4. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Smith told reporters after the game.
Jeff Smith doubled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jun Nakayama in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jun Nakayama in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Coco Yamashita in the 9th.
Presently Smith is batting .252 and has collected 19 home runs, 54 RBIs, .296 OBP and scored 36 runs.
