McCarthy Stretches Hit String to 20
Wednesday, April 19th, 2028
He did it again!
Todd McCarthy got another hit and ran his hitting streak to 20. He collected 1 hit in 4 at-bats, but that wasn't enough to win the game. His Kansas City Tornadoes were defeated 11-1 at Debris Field by the Eureka Hornets.
During the recent streak, the 31-year-old right fielder has remained quiet, sidestepping questions about it with ease. Whether for superstitious reasons or simply in an effort to avoid the spotlight, McCarthy preferred to shower praise on his team. He told reporters in the clubhouse after the loss, "We have a better ballclub than we showed today."
"It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "So, we're trying to kind of keep that quiet... don't want to jinx him." Todd McCarthy struck out in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, struck out in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Presently McCarthy is batting .397 with 25 hits and 4 home runs. He has knocked in 11 runs and scored 12 times.
